We entertained Long Melford today who were hopeful of coming and getting 3 points after losing at home to us earlier in the season.
Regent on the other hand had high hopes with a nearly full squad and welcomed the new signing of Ricky Griggs from heybridge swifts we were hoping for big things.
After a decent preperation however we started very slowly and Melford came out of the blocks much quicker than us.
They got 2 corners ealry on and we failed to pick up at all leaving there number 9 with free runs from the penalty spot each time.
There pressure told when in the 10th minute they won another corner and this time there player ran to the front post unchallenged and noddled in at the near post.
We did settle after this and i think in the rest of the half they had 1 other shot which Sam handled smartly. Other than that we created a few half chances,a superba ball from man of the match Morley out to Griggs found him one on one and as he glided past there full back he hit just wide.
1-0 at half time and although we had the line share of possession had done little in the final third to make it tell and kept the ball comfortbaly in front of melfords back 4 without ever hurting them on behind.
The second half was a carbon copy of the first as again we pressed in areas but never really hurt Melford or massivley troubles them apart from one decent ball out on the right from Rymer which they knocked away for a corner that was about it.
The game finished 1-0 to Melford and to be hones they got there tactics right on the day and we were found wanting.
I think at the moment we need to find a new way to play and learnt o be creative and mix it up a bit rather than what is happening at the moment.
Not a great day bearing in mind we go to Stanway on Wednesday evening for a cup game.
Hopefully we can turn things around and finally kick start our season.
