Great second half performance as Regent hit second gear!!!!

We travlled away today to Long Melford wh too be fair is not to far a trip compared to others.
With a nearly half the squad missing in the shape of Deano, Coley, Luke Hughes, Jake Holman, Sam Holman, Morle it was a chance for Clarky, Salter, Wallis, Harry and Beardo and others to make a statement with there chances.

We started the game ok, but Melford came out of the traps quickly closing us down well and we never really got playing any football, they cause us a few minor early problems as we looked to settlebut first 20 just didnt track our runners.

We did carve out several early chances though, First Beardo and Clarkys great work out on the right swung a ball in for Rymer and as it fell to his right foot 6 yards out on the volley he fluffed his lines and struck wide.
Moments later he was in again as this time Clarky down the left squared to him only to flick into the rushing keeper.

Clarky then went close but the ball didnt quite fall for him.

As it often happens so far this season if you dont take your chances, you end up getting punished and shortly after Melford from a corner re helped the ball into the box and we switched off as one of there players got up with a free header and noddled into the bottom corner, a sloppy goal and a silly one to give away.

We got in at half time and some wise words from Webbo and grids trying to get everyone fired up again and reignite the passion we are all used to seeing.

Second half thankfully we were a totally different team, We looked hungry for the ball, played with desire and a great tempo giving Melford little time to settle or play at all.

We equalised when we won a free kick 20 yards out on the right. Kev spoke with Rymer before the free kick and some decent movement from him moved someone in the wall and Rymer used this to good effect bending the ball around the wall and empty space and into the bottom corner 1-1.

We took off from this point and went through the gears as Beardo, Philbo, Clarky and Rymer started causing Melford all sorts of problems with there pace.

We took the deserved lead when we broke down the right in lightning quick fashion, Harry to Beardo who splayed a quality 20 yard pass to Clarky who squared first time to rymer to bend round the out rushing keeper and make it 2-1, great move and lovely goal.

Chances kept on coming as we pushed for a 3rd, Beardo and Clarky both getting in but great defending from there left back stopped them.
Another good move then in the 80th minute as Wallis played a quality revers ball in behind the full back and Jakey got in behind with a great 60 yard run, however was brought down from behind, and after consideration and a look where the mark from the tackle was the ref duly and rightly gave a penalty.

Rymer stepped up and smashed into the back of the net for his hat trick and to make it 3-1.

So the game ended 3-1 and a great performance after going 1 down, it would have been easy to go hiding.

Some decent performances in the second half especially from Beardo who was back to his direct best, Harry who matched there danger left midfielder for pace all day long, Salter and Wallis rolling back the years smashing the tackles and giving the ball easy and Clarky playing well in the hole.

Highlights of the evening included Brian dancer loving being called Mate, Danny Disco on the mic, Beardos spotty bum, Tony sprinting to the bar after the 50 minute journey he had to enjure without a beer, and Philbos mrs story about there holiday in Egypt and both getting the 2 bob bits and both needing the toilet at the same time 'im gonna have to go in the bidet in a minute innit' hahahaha.

Saturday a long journey away to Downham Town, lets hope the good form continues.......
