Regent went in to the midweek game away at Stowmarket looking to bounce back from the disappointment of conceding in the last minute against Downham also knowing that a win could see us move in to the promotion places. Webster had the same squad available from Saturday and also included Darryl Wallis and Charlie Durling in to a strong 16. Jamie Clark and Warren Joseph came in to the starting line up replacing Liam Whittaker and Keiron Baker who dropped to the bench. Regent started well and had the home side under early pressure after some great play from Ricky Griggs but twice Terry Rymer was inches away from giving us the lead. After 20 minutes we did however make it 0-1, Kevin Hughes powerfully headed home a Ricky Griggs corner in to the top bins despite the keeper getting a hand to it. After 27 minutes it was 0-2, Phil Kelly played a sublime pass which split the defence and found Terry Rymer who had timed his run perfectly and slotted passed the advancing keeper to nestle in the bottom corner. The home keeper saved well from Phil Kelly when he was through on goal to keep the score at 0-2. The home team nearly got a goal against the run of play when Dan Beeson mis kicked on the bobbly pitch but he reacted superbly to deny the striker at point blank range. HT 0-2
The home team came out and competed well for the first 15 minutes making it harder for Regent, Liam Whittaker replaced Charlie Thompson after 52 minutes. In the 61st minute it was 0-3, Jamie Clark playing a cross field ball to Warren Joseph who found Phil Kelly inside the box, he cut the ball back to Ricky Griggs who smashed in to the top bins. After 65 minutes it was 0-4, Jake Gould who was working tirelessly down the flank played a pass to Terry Rymer who once again had timed his run well before holding off the defender and hitting his shot in to the far corner, the keeper got a hand to it but it wasn't enough to stop the ball finding the net. Darryl Wallis and Keiron Baker both came on for Warren Joseph and Sam Holman. After 71 minutes another goal with a quality corner from Ricky Griggs finding Liam Whittaker whose header just crossed the line despite the defenders best efforts. The scoring was completed in the 80th minute by man of the match Ricky Griggs who arrowed his left foot shot in to the bottom corner to make it 0-6. Phil Kelly was again denied by the keeper when through on goal before the final whistle. FT 0-6
A good display by Regent on a difficult pitch which sees us move up to 3rd. Another away game on Saturday with the trip to March Town Utd.
