Regent went in to their latest league game with several players missing again, Jules is obviously a long term injury now after an operation on his ankle. Ryan Salter, Jake Gould and Scott Page should all hopefully be fit to return next week, club skipper Warren Joseph was ill so the little girl stayed in bed cause he didn't want too be cold. Harry Schofield and Charlie Thompson came in to the starting line up for Warren and Jules with Beardo and Jamie Clark returning to the squad. We started the game well and were on the front foot, Ricky Griggs producing the first chance but his cross was behind 3 on rushing players. In almost their first attack Debenham created a great chance after 8 minutes but the forward shot well over the bar from 8 yards. We took the lead after 10 minutes, Charlie Thompson slid a perfect pass in to Phil Kelly who took a delightful first touch round the keeper and slotted home to make it 1-0. Phil Kelly then turned provider after 20 minutes when he glided past 2 players before passing to Liam Whittaker to slot in to the corner of the net and make it 2-0. The rest of he half was a much more even affair but the threat was always coming from Regent with a couple of near misses. HT 2-0
Regent raised the tempo straight from the kick off and a perfectly timed run after a minute from Charlie Thompson saw us increase our lead, he slid the ball to Liam Whittaker who again from 10 yards made no mistake to make it 3-0 with another bottom corner finish. Charlie nearly added to our lead but his 20 yard strike was well saved by the away keeper. After 60 minutes we did increase our lead with Phil Kelly finding Liam Whittaker, he tried to whitsdink the keeper but he saved well, Liam picked up the rebound and passed in to the empty net to get his hatrick and make it 4-0. Webster then made his first change with Terry Rymer coming on for Darryl Wallis and Terry got his first goal since returning to Regent with a 20 yard cross/shot from the edge of the box to make it 5-0 after 75 minutes. The remaing two subs were made with Charlie Durling and Ritchie Meadows coming on. Unusually for Regent we switched off and allowed Debenham a goal back after failing to clear a throw on, the striker finishing from 6 yards to make it 5-1 after 78 minutes. Phil Kelly got his second goal after 80 minutes, Harry Schofield's pass in to Terry Rymer's run, his cross was met by Phil Kelly who bundled in from 3 yards to make it 6-1. With a couple of minutes to go and the game seemingly ebbing out for a comfortable home win there was a nasty sting in the tail. The away side who began to throw in a few naughty tackles most notably the number 15 on Harry, were in uproar after Keiron Baker on a run up field was tackled and landed on the defender which resulted in a yellow card with the away side clearly wanting more. The resultant free kick was played up field and knocked on which Jake Holman cut out but his first touch bounced up off his shin and flicked off his hand. The Referee adjudged this to be a penalty which I find ridiculous, how can that be classed as an intentional hand ball? The Debenham player stepped up and beat Daniel Beeson despite Beeson getting a hand on it to make it 6-2 after 89 minutes. With everybody walking back to the halfway line the Referee then sent off Beeson for swearing, not aimed at anybody but in frustration as you always see on every park and TV this results in a red card!! Liam Whittaker donned the gloves for be final minutes of injury time. FT 6-2
A good performance from the lads again with a sting in the tail which we hope doesn't come back to bite our bum.Terry Rymer since being away has invested in some lovely Jesus creepers(see picture) errrrrrrrr
