On Saturday we entertained Fakenham at North Road. Webster was without players with Pagey and Beardo both unavailable which meant a return to the squad for Tevez and Darryl Wallis. It was a cold and windy day and pretty miserable and unfortunately the game did nothing to improve the mood. The away side turned up dogged and prepared to grind out a draw and FairPlay to them that's what they collected. The first half was all huff and puff and long balls a plenty with no real guilt edged chances for either team. The most notable incident was a superb last ditch tackle by Warren Joseph. HT 0-0
After a bit of a pep talk our play did improve in the 2nd half and it was all Regent but again the away side dug in and restricted us to minimal chances. Webster made his 3 changes and at last we started to get in behind the defence and Phil Kelly went close but his shot was easily saved. After 77 minutes we took the lead when Phil laid back to Liam Whittaker who found the bottom corner to make it 1-0. This spurred the away side in to action and for 8 minutes they pushed men forward and finally found some attacking intent. Criminally we switched off at a throw on and a superb cross was met by the on rushing player who beat Beeson to make it 1-1. With their equaliser they now went back in to draw mode and in injury time we should have made them pay. Tevez laid the ball in to Ricky Griggs path but he shot high over the bar. FT 1-1
So our unbeaten run continues but the boys need to improve on this performance.
