Another good team performance away from home gives us all 3 points.

On Saturday we travelled to Debenham LC for our latest league game. Webster was without Tevez, who was serving the 2nd game of his suspension; Sam Holman was also unavailable due to an injury picked up last week. Charlie Thompson and Ryan Salter came in to the starting line up for Sam and Jamie Clark who was dropped to the bench after being ill all week. Kev Hughes and Webster had a rough journey up to Debenham losing their way and ending up in a ditch but luckily they had Darryl Wallis in the car. Darryl auditioning for Worlds strongest man by lifting the car out!! We started the game at a great pace and put the home team under relentless pressure for the first 25 minutes. In this time we had a Ricky Griggs goal disallowed for offside after following up a Charlie Thompson shot from the edge of the area. Scott Page fired narrowly over when played through from Phil Kelly. We then hit the crossbar for roughly the twentieth time this season, a corner from Ricky was met by Charlie but his header thudded against the bar. A good run and cross from Jake Gould found Liam Whittaker but his header was well saved by the keeper. From the resulting corner Jake Holman went close but his header was just wide. The home team began to come in to the game and Warren defended well to thwart their best attack of the half. After 35 minutes we took a deserved lead, another bursting run from Phil found Pagey who laid the ball back to Charlie who looked to shoot with his right but had that closed off so he pivoted and hit a cracking shot with his left foot in to the far corner to make it 0-1. After 40 minutes we increased our lead with another quality finish from Phil Kelly. The ball was kept alive after some good play through midfield with Phil hitting the ball first time in to the same corner to beat the keeper all ends up to make it 0-2. In injury time we gave ourselves a comfortable lead when a corner was cleared back to Phil, he crossed the ball back in and with Liam looking to get on the end of it the home keeper expected a touch but the ball drifted in to the bottom corner to make it 0-3. HT 0-3
We started the 2nd half well and added to our tally; Ryan Salter broke the play up before feeding Pagey whose timed run saw him bearing down on goal. A slip in the box thwarted him but with the keeper off his line he laid it back to Liam Whittaker who dinked it over the keeper to make it 0-4. After 18 minutes Webster made all 3 changes and shortly after Whittaker had another chance when he was played through down the right but this time his dinked effort was easily saved by the keeper. The home team huffed and puffed and didn’t give up but Beeson was rarely troubled but a few crosses were expertly handled by him in difficult conditions. Shortly before the end we hit the woodwork again with Kev Hughes heading against the underside of the bar. FT 0-4
Another good performance by the lads and a clean sheet.
