On Saturday we welcomed Stowmarket Town to North Road. Webster had a full squad to choose from and kept faith with the same starting eleven from the previous week. After weeks of constant abuse and terrible repetitive banter I finally got a little revenge back on Warren. He stupidly left his very child like sized hoody at training and with a little white spirit it went up a dream. His bottom lip was going as his prized top went up in smoke and he vowed revenge. The lads started well and took the game to the away side and were in the lead after 8 minutes when a cross from the right by Warren was hit by Liam Whittaker. The keeper did well to save it but Pagey was there to tap home and make it 1-0. We continued on the front foot and created lots of chances with the keeper saving well from Liam again and shortly after a lung bursting run from Jake Gould at left back saw him in the 18 yard box but his right foot shot was fired over. Philbo then also had a mazy run but dwelled on his shot and was blocked out.Jake Holman then headed against the bar from a corner. It looked like another frustrating half where chances came and went especially when Liam hit the post before Pagey again tapped home, only to see the linesman’s flag rule it out. With injury time being played Stowmarket created their best and only real chance but after a good first touch from the striker, his shot was wide off the far post. HT 1-0
We started the second half in the same fashion and within 5 minutes we had increased our lead. Sam Holman played a lovely slide rule pass in to the run of Liam Whittaker who again saw his first shot saved but this time made no mistake with the rebound to make it 2-0. After 10 minutes we increased our lead further when Phil and Warren linked up with Clarky heading home Warren’s cross to make it 3-0. All three subs came on and the game continued in the same vein with Stowmarket trying hard to get in to the game and fair play to them, they didn’t give up. A good run from Ricky Griggs through midfield saw him in their box and he unselfishly passed to Tevez who had an easy tap in to make it 4-0. FT 4-0
This win sees us make it 3 clean sheets on the bounce, next Saturday we make the trip to unbeaten Newmarket Town.
