On Saturday we made the journey to Ipswich to play Ipswich Wanderers with a fewww players out. Webster was away on a stag do and also with him were Warren and Kev, although I personally think Warren was using it as a smoke screen and was seen in a Brighton gentlemen’s bar, gimp mask and all leathered up. Sam Holman was away on holiday and Pagey was a late call off, which meant a squad of 13, with Josh Gould coming in for his debut. We started the game well and early on went close when Tevez made a great run and was through on goal but the keeper came out and smothered well. After 12 minutes we took the lead when Liam Whittaker played a ‘one, two’ with Philbo before his looping shot curled in to the far corner to make it 0-1. We continued to dominate possession and after 22 minutes we increased our lead from a free- kick. Jake Gould made a run from left back before finding Tevez who was brought down. Liam Morley delivered a quality ball in with Josh rising ahead of the keeper to make it 0-2. We were playing some really good football and the home side had no answer, but a change in formation for them helped them create a couple of chances with some good movement from their number 9; on both occasions he blasted high over the bar from 18 yards. With 2 minutes of the half to go, we added a third when the ball was played out from the back with Jake Gould playing in to Tevez again who held off the defender before his shot was deflected, wrong footing the keeper and finding the bottom corner to make it 0-3. HT 0-3
The first few minutes were quiet with the home side trying to react but in truth we went the closest with Ricky seeing his shot saved. After 10 minutes we made it 0-4 with a cross from Tevez evading everyone in the box, but Liam Whittaker kept it alive and passed to Philbo who smashed in to the bottom corner. Wallis came on for Liam Whittaker after 70 minutes and Beeson pulled off 2 decent saves and the home side rattled the bar but the game was seen home for a good away win. FT 0-4
A very good result and performance from the lads who controlled the game from the start against an unbeaten Ipswich Wanderers in September which included a decent away win in the Vase. The hard work the boys are putting in and the quality and belief they are showing on the ball to each other is good to watch.
