A great team performance sees Regent secure 3 points.

On Saturday we welcomed Swaffham to North Road. Webster was back from his latest holiday and had a full squad to choose from apart from Jake Gould who is still on holiday and Ricky Griggs who had a wedding to attend to. Pagey was late to arrive, due to work but we had a strong looking team on paper. We started superb and the first half saw us play our best stuff of the season with Swaffham struggling to hold us. We took the lead after 20 minutes when the ball was moved from the back, left to right and then through midfield where Sam Holman collected and played a slide rule pass in to a lovely angled run from Tevez, who finished well from 8 yards to beat the advancing keeper and make it 1-0. Within minutes it looked like we were going to increase our lead but somehow the keeper saved from Tevez on the line from a Liam Whittaker corner. After 30 minutes some more good passing football saw the ball to Liam Whittaker whose shot smashed the underside of the bar before it was cleared to safety. The away side were mostly defending but from 2 set pieces caused danger with some wicked deliveries but Beeson wasn’t called in to action. Due to it being a hot day the players were allowed a quick water break after an injury but the water was marred with Webster calling Liam Whittaker a “fifa hunk”. Tevez went close again with a carbon copy of his goal but this time it was inches wide. HT 1-0
Swaffham came out in the 2nd half and put lots of bodies in midfield to try and contain us and for the first 15 minutes this worked. Jake Holman pulled out an unbelievable tackle when it looked like a certain goal or at least a great chance from 6 yards. We settled and hit the bar again this time a cross from Warren saw Clarky’s header thud against the bar. Jake Holman then saw his shot from a corner saved well by the keeper when it looked to be heading in. Midway through the half Jake wasn’t to be denied and this time Liam Whittaker’s corner was met by Jake who swivelled and fired in the bottom corner to make it 2-0. Pagey came on for Liam Whittaker and shortly after Wallis came on for Liam Morley. A great run from Philbo saw him through on goal but he slipped just before he shot and the keeper saved easily. We then made our last change with Charlie coming on for Clarky. Swaffham were given a fortunate free-kick with 3 minutes to go and the ball in was met by a Swaffham head to make it 2-1. With the away side throwing bodies forward we caught them twice on the break and should have finished the game off but were a little wasteful. FT 2-1
A really good first half and a decent 2nd half saw us deservedly collect 3 points which could have been made even better with a few more goals. All the talk after was off a good performance and Webster calling Liam a “fifa hunk”, which of course was perfectly fine according to Grid dog. In the bar after Warren was foaming at the mouth fantasising about Webster’s roofer who looks like Daniel Craig!! During this wet dream he also had an epiphany which was about young hunky men in training kits.
