Regent wilt in the sun.

On Saturday we made the long journey to Fakenham in a mini-bus which in 30 degree heat was more like a sweat box. I was getting grief as normal about my slow driving, even though it’s restricted to 62 mph. I probably didn’t help myself when telling the lads what a great driver I was by stalling it twice! We were without players again with Pagey and Philbo serving their last game of a ban, Morley on holiday, Griggsy birthday/engagement party, Clarky V festival and Moysey injured. Hopefully this will be the last game where we suffer so much. We stopped off on the way to get some lunch with Gouldy having a usual moment when seeing Yoghurt he started calling it yog, yog, with the toddler fed with yog,yog we arrived at Fakenham. Despite the scorching heat we started the game really well and created some very good opportunities in the first half and were rewarded after 10 minutes when Sam Holman played a one, two on the edge of the box before smashing a 20 yard screamer in to the roof of the net to make it 0-1. We were on top and then Tevez was played through but his finish was wayward. Rymer was then also through one on one but after rounding the keeper was delayed and his cross was cleared. After 25 minutes the home team started getting hold of the game and Griggsy produced a good save to keep us ahead. We were now largely playing on the break and Tevez was again played through one on one after a pass from Rymer but his shot from 12 yards was blazed over. The home team were putting balls in to the box but we were defending well but our football was becoming less and less and we were guilty of some sloppy play. HT 0-1
We let our self down in the 2nd half and yes it was boiling hot but conditions were the same for both teams and the home side dictated the play. We again were sloppy on the ball and the home team pressed forward hitting the bar and the post from a corner after 20 minutes. Inevitably with their pressure the home team found an equaliser with a 20 yard strike making it 1-1 after 72 minutes. Our 2 subs were introduced but in truth nothing changed and with a minute left on the clock the home side got a winner after a shot from 10 yards found the bottom corner to make it 2-1. FT 2-1
A hugely disappointing defeat, on chances alone we should have done enough in the first half to see the game over but wasteful finishing cost us and ultimately our 2nd half performance is just not acceptable. With players to return, which will help there will need to be an improvement from everybody to get us back on track.
