For our 2nd league game of the season we welcomed Cornard United to North Road. We had the same squad available from Saturday’s defeat, with one change to the starting line up with Tevez replacing Clarky. We started the game well and were creating chances early on but Kev and Jake Holman were both wide with headers. We were creating our own problems at the back and nearly gifted the away side after a mix up but luckily Kev got back and denied their striker a simple tap in. After 20 minutes the away side were awarded a penalty after Kev tried a WWE move on their striker. Matt Griggs saved well though denying them a lead. We then laid siege at their goal for the remainder of the half with what seemed like, how to not finish from crosses with either some very good defending or an average final ball or some narrow misses. HT 0-0
We came out looking to quicken our play and find a finishing touch to our build up play. After 2 minutes we were rewarded when some good play found Rymer, who beat a defender before bending a lovely finish with his lefty benson from 25 yards in to the bottom corner to make it 1-0. Five minutes later we doubled our lead with Sam Holman playing a lovely give and go and finding the same bottom corner to make it 2-0. We were in complete control and the away side were finding it hard to get forward, we however were keeping the ball well and after a very good batch of passing, Wallis made it 3-0 with a rasping shot from 25 yards finding the same bit of netting. For the remainder of the half we created more chances but couldn’t find the killer touch. Tevez was brought down when through and Quinten went close but the score remained 3-0. FT 3-0
