A very soft penalty was enough to defeat regent. Our first home loss in 7 games as Phil Kelly saw red late on also to complete a bad day.

On Saturday we welcomed Thetford to North Road. Morley was beginning his ban, which saw Ryan Salter returning back in to the 1st team squad after a long injury lay off. Sam replaced Joe in goal, Wayne came in for the banned Morley and Griggsy returned for Clarky. Webster was struggling after a night out with Gridley, which saw them doing some bad Dad dancing in Roberts!! Yes that wasn’t a typo, they went to Roberts, normally frequented by the over 40 plus generation, which despite some people’s perception I am not one of said over 40’s. After a decent warm up, which was marred slightly by Rymer, who had come up with a new dynamic, the child pose?? Slightly disturbed we began the game slowly and allowed the away side to take charge. There was a big scream after 10 minutes which set the tone for the day, as every questionable decision seemed to get this reaction and on the day the Referee seemed to base his decisions by this. The scream on this and only this occasion was a penalty scream that was turned down. After 15 minutes we began to settle and created a great chance, when a corner was met by Jake Holman but somehow the keeper made a superb save to deny us. After 35 minutes a dive from the number 10 in our box was awarded a penalty, rather than a 9.5 from the judges. The 10 stepped up and beat Sam to make it 0-1. We reacted and created another good opportunity when a through ball found Tevez but he couldn’t hit the target. HT 0-1
Again we started the 2nd half slowly and after 10 minutes nearly gave the away team the game, when Jake H was caught in possession but the 10 screwed his effort wide. After 15 minutes some good wing play from Griggsy found Tevez but his header was wide. Clarky came on for Tevez and the game was scruffy and not a classic, with lots of play acting not helping the flow of the game. In truth we just didn’t perform to our best and after 70 minutes we were down to 10 men when Phil saw red after kicking out at a Thetford player. Salter and Hilly both came on for Wayne and Wallis as we looked to get at least a share of the game. Salter seemed popular with the Lino but chose to not give up his phone number. In injury time another set piece was met by Jake Holman but from 6 yards he headed against the underside of the bar and once again the keeper did well to gather amongst bodies. FT 0-1
A disappointing performance that still should have seen us gain a point but with a quick chance to make up for this when we entertain Godmanchester on Monday. With no game for the Reserves or A team a few of the players and Management came to support the boys. A poor show from Meadows though, who came straight from fishing and smelt bad with some rascal clothing on. If anyone out there could forward a copy of Jamaco to Meadows it would be greatly appreciated! We went out to drown our sorrows but the same old faces let us down, with Gouldy ordered to look after Tash and Rymer not out cause his Dad cares for him too much. Wallis made it out after being a good boy and even wore his new shiny watch. He was on best behaviour but just in case, he brought the box for the watch so he could tuck it up if he either found trouble or a hot tub party. Just for everyone’s information certain things are not banter these include, lube, slipping digits up or deep throating the same sex.
