A 40th minute red card couldn't stop Regent going 4th

On Saturday we welcomed 3rd place Whitton Utd to North Road for our latest league game. The Geez had got the pitch looking good and with the days rain it made for a nice slick playing surface. Rymer had got there early with Webster clearly not having time to do his hair and it resembled a lego characters hair style. Sam came back in to the team for Joe and Philbo replaced Clarky with both dropping to the bench. Jake Gould was a little worried during the warm up as in the last game against Whitton he had received a straight yellow card, Gouldy seems to have a merrrr moment every week. The game started at a good pace with the away side showing a good passing and moving game from the off, we contained them whilst not really playing our own passing game. The first chance of the game fell to us from a corner when Kev was afforded a free header in the box but the away side cleared off the line. After 30 minutes we took the lead with a ball played through saw Tevez time his run well and he chipped the advancing keeper, hitting both posts before rolling in to make it 1-0. The away side came straight back and after 34 minutes had an equaliser, when a direct ball saw Sam advance off his line but he fouled the number 11. The number 8 stepped up and smashed in to the top corner to make it 1-1. Shortly after Griggsy did well on the line to clear and stop the away side going ahead. After 40 minutes a competitive game over spilled when Morley slid in on the number 8. The away bench and away players were incensed in what seemed a hard tackle where ball and man were taken. The number 8 didn’t receive any treatment and was straight up but I felt due to the reaction the Referee produced a red card. The away manager shoved me but all was well as I had Webster backing me up, Ha Ha. Ht 1-1
The boys still believed and with a little organising to counter their movement, also Philbo’s Mum had brought the boys oranges and they were thoroughly enjoyed especially by Warren who doubled his body weight. We came out and started well. We produced the first chance with another great piece of movement from Tevez but the keeper saved well. After 10 minutes Wayne came on for Wallis who was already on a yellow card and couldn’t be risked. After 15 minutes we took the lead with a goal that would grace any ground. A pass found Rymer 30 yards out whose first touch teed him up for a left foot volley which bent in to the top right hand corner to make it 2-1. Whitton did obviously have lots of possession but the team work by all the players was phenomenal and we were really organised and the balls that were delivered in to the box were dealt with. With 10 minutes to go Clarky came on for Rymer who had run himself in to the ground. Whitton had a real dangerous spell with first a shot from the edge of the box deflecting off Philbo before rolling agonising close but the Brightlingsea bobble saw it rebound off the post and be cleared away. Sam then produced a good save and shortly after Clarky was played through on goal but his shot was well saved by the keeper. Hilly then came on for Tevez who had defended from the front superbly. FT 2-1
Webster was rightly chuffed with the boys but was maybe a little confused, when after some complimentary words from their number 2.He relayed the conversation to me but his chat was with Ruud Gullit not Ruel Fox.. HAHAHA.A superb effort from the boys against a good side which sees us move in to fourth place. A deserved victory, which shows that we are really starting to find the work ethic, to match our quality. A fewwww beers were had in town which somehow led to arm Wrestling?? Mr Bean AKA Warren was surprisingly good despite his little boy’s body and punched above his weight taking down me, shock, Webster and Gridley. Up stepped Joff and he smashed everyone. #bigdogjoff
