Regent show bouncebackability

We travelled to Cornard on Friday night for our latest league game. Webster was celebrating his Birthday and had new signing Wayne Saunders in the squad with Philbo, Sam, Jake G and Morley all returning in to the squad after missing recent games. We were without Jake H though who was away watching Man U. We were lucky to have our skipper Warren available for the game, with his new job imminent. Rather than having a word with his boss though, his going to just “ get well in with him “All this meant a few changes and after a decent warm up we started the game well but our play was too methodical. The home side largely dealt with this and when we did prize any opening the keeper did well. Their main threat was on the break and after 30 minutes against the run of play they took the lead, when a weak back pass from Wayne was latched on to by the Cornard striker who finished well to make it 1-0. Rather shocked by this, we responded and a Rymer through ball found Tevez but with the lob beating the keeper it only found the side netting. With the half coming to an end Cornard then made it 2-0 with more poor decision making allowing the player to run through and slot home. HT 2-0
The tempo needed to be increased and more effort was needed and with this ringing in the ears that’s exactly what the boys did. Philbo came on replacing the injured Griggsy who had been in the wars. Philbo started well with a typical jinking run but Cornard managed to thwart him. After 2 minutes though Wayne made up for his mistake playing a ball to Rymer whose shot could only be parried, Tevez was alert and cooly slotted home to make it 2-1. After 5 minutes we were level, some lovely combination play through midfield, found Philbo who bent a lovely finish in to the far corner to make it 2-2. We were playing some lovely stuff and Philbo went close again but the keeper saved comfortably. After 10 minutes a long ball from Cornard was headed from Kev just outside our box to Wayne whose positive run found Clarky out on the right, his cross was chested in by Rymer inside the 6 yard box to make it 2-3. The home side couldn’t contain the Regent and 15 minutes in to the half Rymer added another. Wazza played a long pass which the defender could only head in to Rymer’s path, he ran through and made no mistake to make it 2-4. We created more chances but couldn’t force another goal with Morley, Sam and Philbo all going close. The keeper saved well from a Rymer 25 yard free kick to deny him his hat- trick. FT 2-4
A quality 2nd half performance from the boys, we need to produce this for the whole game though to save the stress for our supporters.. Webster and a few of the boys went to the smoke on Saturday to celebrate his birthday. Wayne did his initiation dirty pint but now owes another one after letting Coley, Tom and Webster down on their coupon, picking the only loser for £240!! Tom carried round the biggest bag all day and Gridley used Tom’s shoe like a phone? Auger not wanting to miss out used his tooth brush from the big bag to clean his teeth in the pub! Wayne is sweet talking Webster already, sending him I love you texts.. Ha HaThe pictures show some of the story to Webster’s birthday.
