Brightlingsea Regent have added two new players to their squad ahead of today’s match.

Brightlingsea Regent have signed George Keys and Billy Clark.

George has signed from Colchester United on Work experience initially for a month, Keys is a young defender who can play anywhere across the back line and is a tenacious defender.

Keys recently gained minutes with Maldon & Tiptree in the Bostik North to help with his development and will now look to add to this with Regent.

Billy Clark is a former Ipswich Town player, Clark left Ipswich aged 20 before joining Bury Town during a successful spell under then Manager Richard Wilkins.

Billy linked up again with Wilkins at Leiston and Needham Market alongside Regent Manager Tom Rothery before now joining Regent to work alongside Tom again.

Tom was pleased with his new recruits.

“ The injuries to JT, Sam and Jack have left us a bit short so I’ve been looking to add a couple to bulk up the squad again and I’m pleased I’ve been able to add George and Billy.

George is a young defender who I was made aware of by Liam Bailey who works with him at Colchester and after watching George and him now training with us I think he can add competition to our back line whilst gaining some worthwhile experience as part of his development.

Billy is a lad I know well, he’s got real quality and I think Billy can add something different to us. We play with real intensity as a team and I think Billy can add some guile and composure to that in forward areas.

He’s 26, has played at this level and higher and in truth Billy just needs a run of games to show the ability that he has, hopefully he can do that with us at Regent”.

Thanks to Colchester United and Needham Market in helping get these deals done.
